About the event

Join us for a screening of Aleister Crowley's The Rite of Mercury, a rock opera!

Are you able to understand, I mean truly understand?

The rite is a splendorous journey into the temple of Mercury, where his mysteries include wisdom and understanding. In addition to adult and occult symbology, we will be discussing some of the correlations in this creative work at points during the showing. There will be an intermission in between acts.

This indie production debuted on stage in Seattle in 2010 and the live performance was released to video spring of 2011. The Rite is a beautiful and sensuous, artistic, and rousing rendition of Aleister Crowley's original work. The Rite is about imparting the understanding of divinity after the usurping of Venus. Dazzling Mercury and his officers invoke the Word while he strives to impart the understanding of divinity. There is flashy dancing! There are some of the most well loved songs from the Operas! Can the human mind really comprehend the secrets of divinity? Will the probationers learn before Mercury gives up? Learn the secrets of Mercury and embrace the mysteries of the gods!

This is a BYOB/BYOW event. The event host requests a $10 donation at the door unless you are a member of the OTO. All are welcome! Dress in something fabulous and ironic if you desire, something befitting mercury! Chatting and conversing encouraged ;)
